1. Documents Required for expatriates with Ph. Degrees (Principal Applicant):
1.具有博士学位的外籍人士（主要申请人）所需的文件：
(1) Complete Application Form for Permanent Residence in China, and provide 2 copies of two-inch recent photos (Read the Notice for more details).
(1) 填写《中国永久居留申请表》，并提供2张两英寸近照（详细信息请阅读通知）。
(2) Valid passport and employment-typed residence permits, and 2 copies of each should be submitted.

(3) Ph. Degree diploma and the Authentication Certificate, and provide 2 copies of each. If the diploma was issued by a domestic educational institution, then China Higher-education Verification Report (via China Higher-education student information website, or Shanghai Students Affairs Center) also must be provided. If the diploma was issued by an overseas educational institution, then Foreign academic degree Verification issued by Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) (via Overseas Academic Degree Accreditation System by Education Ministry) must also be provided.
(3) 博士学位证书和认证证书，并各提供2份复印件。如果文凭是由国内教育机构颁发的，则还必须提供《中国高等教育验证报告》（通过中国高等教育学生信息网站或上海市学生事务中心）。如果文凭是由海外教育机构颁发的，则还必须提供由中国学术交流服务中心（CSCSE）颁发的外国学位验证（通过教育部的海外学位认证系统）。
(4) Valid Working Permit (or Employment Permit, Foreign Expert Certificate), and provide 2 copies of this.

(5) Employment certificate issued by the employer, and provide 1 copy of this.

(6) Employer's Business License (counterpart) or relevant registration certificate, its online annual report for recent year, Certificate of Approval for Establishment of Enterprises with foreign investment or Receipt for the Establishment of Enterprises with foreign investment or Receipt for Change of Enterprises with foreign investment (If the document can be provided, not required for domestic companies) , and provide 2 copies of each.
(6) 用人单位的《营业执照》（副本）或相关登记证书，其最近一年的网上年度报告，《外商投资企业批准设立证书》或《外商投资公司设立收据》或《外国投资企业变更收据》（如果可以提供文件，国内公司不需要），各提供2份。
(7) A Health check certificate which was issued by a domestic entry-exit inspection and quarantine agency (or by foreign medical institutions verified by Embassy /Consulate General of China), and provide 1 copy of this.The health certificate should be issued within the validity of the last 6 months.
(7) 由国内出入境检验检疫机构（或经中国使领馆验证的外国医疗机构）出具的健康检查证明，并提供1份复印件。健康证明应在最近6个月的有效期内出具。
(8) A Criminal Record/ Background check which shows no trace or history of any kind must be verified by the Embassy/Consulate General of China, and 1 copy should also be provided. The Record Check must be issued by relevant national-level competent authority, and shall specify the verification result of the applicant criminal record. The name on the Record Check must match that on the valid passport. In case the applicant has changed names , the former names should be noted in the Record, In case the applicant has lived in a country/region outside the passport-issuing country for successively two years or longer after he/she is 18 years old, a clear Criminal Record check from that country/region is also required.The Record(s) should be issued within the validity of the last 6 months (In case the duration of validity noted on the Record Check is less than 6 months, then the note on the Record Check shall prevail).
(8) 没有任何痕迹或历史的犯罪记录/背景调查必须由中国大使馆/总领事馆核实，并应提供1份副本。《记录核查》必须由国家相关主管部门出具，并应说明申请人犯罪记录的核查结果。记录支票上的姓名必须与有效护照上的姓名相符。如果申请人更改了姓名，应在记录中注明以前的姓名。如果申请人在18岁后在护照签发国以外的国家/地区连续居住两年或更长时间，还需要该国家/地区的明确犯罪记录检查。记录应在最近6个月的有效期内发布（如果记录检查上注明的有效期小于6个月，则以记录检查上的注释为准）。
(9) The original and one photocopy of the Certificate of No Criminal Record in China (which should cover all passport numbers used by the applicant during their stay in China).

2. Documents Required for Spouse:

(1) Complete Application Form for Permanent Residence in China , and provide 2 copies of two-inch recent photos (Read the Notice for more details).

(2) Valid passport and valid visa (or residence permit), and provide 2 copies of each.

(3) Marriage certificate, and provide 2 copies of this. If this certification was issued abroad, a verification from the Embassy/Consulate General of China is also needed, which has a validity of up to 6 months. Two copies of ID certifications used for marriage registration are also required.
(3) 结婚证，并提供2份复印件。如果该证书是在国外颁发的，还需要中国使领馆的验证，有效期最长可达6个月。还需要两份用于婚姻登记的身份证明副本。
(4) A Health check certificate which was issued by a domestic entry-exit inspection and quarantine agency (or by foreign medical institutions verified by Embassy /Consulate General of China), and provide 1 copy of this. The health certificate should be issued within the validity of the last 6 months.

(5) A Criminal Record/ Background check which shows no trace or history of any kind must be verified by the Embassy/Consulate General of China, and 1 copy should also be provided. The Record Check must be issued by relevant national-level competence authority, and shall specify the verification result of the applicant criminal record. The name on the Record Check must match that on the valid passport. In case the applicant has changed names, the former names should be noted in the Record, In case the applicant has lived in a country/region outside the passport-issuing country for successively two years or longer after he/she is 18 years old, a clear Criminal Record check from that country/region is also required.The Record(s) should be issued within the validity of the last 6 months(In case the duration of validity noted on the Record Check is less than 6 months, then the note on the Record Check shall prevail).

(1) Complete Application Form for Permanent Residence in China, and provide 2 copies of two-inch recent photos (Read the Notice for more details).
(1) 填写《中国永久居留申请表》，并提供2张两英寸近照（详细信息请阅读通知）。
(2) Valid passport and visa (or residence permit), and provide 2 copies of each.
(2) 有效护照和签证（或居留许可），并提供两份复印件。
(3) Birth Certificate (or parent-children relationship certificate, or adoption proof), and provide 2 copies of this. If the certification or proof was issued abroad, then verification by the Embassy/Consulate General of China is required.
(3) 出生证明（或亲子关系证明，或收养证明），并提供2份复印件。如果证书或证明是在国外颁发的，则需要由中国大使馆/总领事馆进行验证。
(4) ID certificates of both parents, and provide 2 copies of each.
(4) 父母双方的身份证明，并提供两份复印件。
(5) Marriage certificate of parents and 2 copies of this (in case the parents have divorced, the principal applicant should provide validsole-guardianship proof, such as a court verdict, etc.). If the certification was issued abroad, then verification by The Embassy/Consulate General of China is required.
(5) 父母的结婚证明和2份复印件（如果父母已经离婚，主要申请人应提供有效的监护证明，如法院判决等）。如果证明是在国外颁发的，则需要由中国使领馆核实。
(6) Nationality identification should be processed in the first place if one/both of the parents was/were of Chinese nationality when the child was born.(6) 如果孩子出生时父母中的一方/双方都是中国国籍，则应首先进行国籍识别。
★ Notice★注意
(1) Applicant above 18 years old should come to process the application in person. For those under 18 years old both parents should come to process the application (in case the parents are divorced, the sole guardian parent shall process the application).
(1) 年满18岁的申请人应亲自前来办理申请。对于18岁以下的人，父母双方都应该来处理申请（如果父母离婚，则由唯一的监护人处理申请）。
(2) The applicant should have their electronic ID photo taken at the social service photo station at the Immigration Service Center of Exit-Entry Administration department. In addition, they need to provide two ID photos taken recently. The photo should be taken in color with a white background. No hats or other obscuring items are permitted, and the full face must be visible. The photo size must be 48mm*33mm, with a facial width of 18mm±1mm, and head height (top of head to top of photo) between 1.5mm～2.5mm. The shirt collar or collarbone should be visible.
(2) 申请人应在出入境管理部门移民服务中心的社会服务照相站拍摄电子身份证照片。此外，他们还需要提供最近拍摄的两张身份证照片。这张照片应该是以白色为背景的彩色照片。不允许戴帽子或其他遮挡物品，并且必须能看到整个面部。照片尺寸必须为48mm*33mm，面部宽度为18mm±1mm，头部高度（照片顶部到顶部）在1.5mm～2.5mm之间。衬衫领子或锁骨应可见。
(3) In case the applicant has changed nationality, certificate of naturalization is required. In case the applicant was once of Chinese nationality, the former mainland Chinese citizen shall also provide their previous private passport and overseas permanent resident certificate (Chinese nationals who join another nationality when holding an official/service passport must renounce Chinese nationality first), former Taiwanese shall also provide a residence deregistration certificate; former Hong Kong/Macau people shall also provide an ID cancellation certificate. If necessary, certifications issued abroad m ust be verified by the Embassy/Consulate General of China.
(3) 如果申请人改变了国籍，则需要提供入籍证明。如果申请人曾经是中国国籍，前中国大陆公民还应提供其以前的私人护照和海外永久居民证明（持有公务/公务护照加入另一国籍的中国公民必须首先放弃中国国籍），前台湾公民还应提供居留注销证明；前香港/澳门居民还应提供身份注销证明。如有必要，在国外颁发的证书必须经过中国大使馆/总领事馆的验证。
(4) In case the applicant has changed their name, relevant certifications and 2 copies of these are required. Certifications issued in a foreign country should be verified by the Embassy/Consulate General of China.
(4)如果申请人更改了姓名，则需要提供相关证明和2份复印件。在外国颁发的证书应由中国大使馆/总领事馆进行验证。
(5) The Criminal Record/Background check, Marriage certificate, Birth certificate, relationship certificate, adoption paper, name changing proof or other relevant documents issued by overseas authorities must either be verified by the Embassy/Consulate General of China, or be certified filed by his/her country's Embassy/Consulate General in China (personal statement is not acceptable).
(5) 海外机构出具的犯罪记录/背景调查、结婚证、出生证、关系证明、收养证明、改名证明或其他相关文件必须由中国大使馆/总领事馆核实，或由其国家驻中国大使馆或总领事馆存档（不接受个人陈述）。
(6) Certifications in foreign languages should be translated into Chinese and stamped by an eligible domestic translation agency, and a copy of the business license of this translation agency is required.
(6) 外语证书应翻译成中文，并由符合条件的国内翻译机构盖章，并要求提供该翻译机构的营业执照副本。
(7) The applicant can mark down "Need to print Chinese name" in "Others" column of the application form, if he/she hopes to have a Chinese name printed on Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card.
(7) 如果申请人希望在外国永久居民身份证上打印中文姓名，可以在申请表的“其他”栏中注明“需要打印中文姓名”。
(8) Exit-entry administration of public security organs may, as they deem necessary, require applicants to attend an interview or submit additional supporting documents. Applications which fail to provide the requisite information within the required time will be rejected, unless caused by a force majeure event.
(8) 公安机关出入境管理部门认为必要时，可以要求申请人参加面试或者补充提交证明文件。未能在规定时间内提供必要信息的申请将被拒绝，除非是由于不可抗力事件造成的。
