（一）定义

用表示结果的连词连接一个句子，充当另一个句子的结果状语，这个句子就叫做结果状语从句。

常用来连接结果状语从句的连词有：so...that...; such...that...。

（二）so...that...

表示“如此...，以至于...”，so用来修饰形容词和副词。如：

He ran so fast that no one could catch up with him.

The little girl is so cute that everyone likes her very much.

It is so nice a house that I really want to move in right away.

【注意】

so有时可以放到句首引起倒装，如：

So late did he get up this morning that he, again, missed the first train to London.

So clear is her explanation that no one will fail to understand it.

（三）such...that...

表示“如此...，以至于...”，such用来修饰名词。如：

It is such a lovely place that tens of thousands of people come to visit it every year.

Jack told us such a funny story that we all laughed to tears.

【注意】

such有时可以放到句首引起倒装，也可以用作系动词后的表语，如：

Such is the elegance of this typeface that it is still a favourite of designers.

The damage was such that it would cost thousands to repair.
